HYDRAULIC HERITAGE ROUTES

The hydraulic heritage routes of Porreres consist of four circular itineraries along public paths throughout the village, offering visitors the chance to discover the local water heritage, in particular its historic public wells. These structures, essential for centuries to agriculture and livestock farming, formed a strategically distributed network across the different rural areas of the municipality.

Although they are no longer in functional use, they retain great historical and heritage value. In the 1990s, an extensive restoration of these wells was carried out. The absence of streams in the municipal area explains the proliferation of these constructions, some of which have over time been incorporated into the village centre. Among the most notable are the Pou Nou (1380), the Pou d’Amunt, the Pou d’Es Pagos, the Pou de Son Pau, the Pou Celat and the Pou de Betlem. The routes, whether on foot or by bicycle, offer the chance to enjoy an agricultural landscape of outstanding rural and ecological value.
