Museum and art collection

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Porreres was founded in 1982 thanks to donations from Joan Mesquida and Aina Ferrando. For nearly twenty years it was housed in the Town Hall, until 2002 when it moved to the former Hospital building on Carrer d’Agustí Font. The collection now numbers over 300 works spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing and printmaking, and grows each year with new donations made to coincide with the Sant Roc festivities. Officially inaugurated in 1986, the museum currently holds a permanent collection alongside galleries for temporary exhibitions. It stands as one of the most comprehensive and significant contemporary art collections in Mallorca, featuring works by acclaimed national and international artists.
